Sarmad Zok is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kingdom Hotel Investments (KHI) headquartered in Dubai, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC). He is a Director on the boards of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, AccorHotels, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Management (MHR), BlackRock Frontiers Investment Trust plc and KHC. Mr. Zok is an active member of the boards of the hotel management companies he sits on, being directly engaged on strategy, product, operations/guest experience, growth and value creation.
In 2006, Mr. Zok led KHI on its Initial Public Offering on the Dubai International Financial Exchange (the predecessor to NASDAQ Dubai) and the London Stock Exchange. Since a successful take-private in 2010 he has headed KHI’s hotel investment management team in Dubai in managing an integrated luxury hospitality investment portfolio across the US, Europe and growth/developing markets in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. For over two decades KHI has invested by acquiring, developing, actively asset managing and monetizing 54 hotels globally.
In 2016, Mr. Zok led the sale and merger of Fairmont Raffles with AccorHotels. In April 2018, he led the integration of MHR with AccorHotels, a transaction expected to complete in H2 2018.
In his early career, Mr. Zok worked at HVS International and Hilton International. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management from the University of Surrey and a Masters of Arts in Property Valuation and Law from City University Business School in London.
Benjamin Cadwell has been with the Kingdom organization since 2006. Over the last 16 years he has worked in various roles at the company’s branches in New York City, Dubai and London.
Today Mr. Cadwell has oversight of all Asset and Investment Management activities of Kingdom’s luxury hospitality investment portfolio, including its owned trophy hotel assets as well as its investments in two leading hospitality management companies, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and Accor Hotels.
Mr. Cadwell is a member of the Board of Directors of Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and serves on its Audit, Compensation, Leadership Excellence and Business Development Committees. He was previously a member of the Board of Directors of Movenpick Hotels & Resorts and a member of its Audit Committee.
During his tenure with Kingdom, Mr. Cadwell has been involved in transactional and asset management assignments for more than 20 luxury and upper-upscale hotel investments in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia, as well as Kingdom’s hotel management company investments. He played a key role in the $3.3 billion sale of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International and $600 million sale of Movenpick Hotels, both to Accor.
Mr. Cadwell holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction in Hotel Administration from Cornell University and serves on the Cornell University Council. He is a member of the Hotel Asset Managers Association. Mr. Cadwell is an American citizen.
Tareq Fontane joined the Kingdom organization in 2015 as Senior Associate in the Asset Management Department assisting Ben Cadwell in his oversight of the company’s asset management activity.
Since joining, Tareq has been involved in several transactional and asset management assignments including the sale and merger of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International in 2016 and Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in 2018, both to Accor. Tareq has also been actively involved in the asset management activities of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris as well as The Savoy Hotel in London.
Prior to joining the Kingdom organization, Tareq was a Manager in the Feasibility and Development Planning department at Marriott, where he performed feasibility studies supporting the company’s development plans in the Middle East and Africa region. Work involved macro / micro market fieldwork and desktop feasibility studies in order to ensure long-term value for the company and realistic expectations for owners.
Tareq received a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from Cornell University with a Minor in Real Estate & Finance.
