Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts started with a modest motor inn opened in 1961 by Isadore Sharp in Toronto. Today the company operates a portfolio of 94 hotels in 39 countries and has evolved into one of the most prestigious and well managed hospitality companies in the industry. Known for exceptional service culture combined with authentic elegant surroundings of the highest quality, Four Seasons properties are consistently ranked among the top luxury hotels worldwide.

Four Seasons has been privately held since 2007 by Kingdom Hotels International (47.5%), Cascade Investment Management controlled by Bill Gates (47.5%), and Triple Holdings, an investment vehicle for Isadore Sharp, the original founder of Four Seasons (5%).

Kingdom’s involvement with Four Seasons dates to 1994, when it acquired a minority interest via a private investment in a public equity transaction. Kingdom has helped expand the Four Seasons flag globally by building or owning 19 four Seasons properties, 10 of which it continues to hold to this day.

On July 12, 2016, FRHI Hotels & Resorts, parent of the renowned luxury and upper-upscale hospitality brands Fairmont, Raffles, and Swissôtel, officially became part of AccorHotels, a world-leading travel and lifestyle group and digital innovator. As part of the transaction, Kingdom Holding Company, who was a 35.3% holder in FRHI became a 5.8% owner of AccorHotels with a seat on the company’s Board of Directors. The integration of FRHI’s iconic brands was a strategic decision for Accor, intended to anchor the Group’s luxury offering and expand its presence into North America.

With a network of 4,100 Hotels and 570,000 rooms serviced by 240,000 employees, AccorHotels meets the needs of business and leisure travelers seeking comfort, attention, and high-quality services on a daily basis all around the world. Under the umbrella of 20 hotel brands covering the spectrum of hospitality segments from luxury to economy, the Group is leading the hospitality industry today in innovative solutions, digital marketing, and sustainable practices.

AccorHotels is organized around two strategic divisions, HotelInvest (hotel owner and investor) and HotelServices (hotel operator and brand franchisor), and it is also owner of alternative lodging solutions OneFineStay, Oasis, and SquareBreak.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, an international upscale hotel management company, is represented in 24 countries with 82 hotels, resorts, and Nile river cruisers currently in operation. The company traces its beginnings to 1973, when the Mövenpick Hotel Group was formed and opened hotels near Zurich Airport and in Regensdorf, Switzerland.

The company extends its management services to i) Mövenpick-branded hotels located in city centers, suburban office areas, or at airports and targeting business travelers; ii) Mövenpick Resorts with extensive leisure amenities, spas, dining options and conference facilities; and iii) Mövenpick Residences, apartments designed for long-staying guests, primarily in city centers and established hotel locations. The company also operates a fleet of cruise ships operating in Egyptian waters. An ambitious growth strategy is envisioned for the company with 20 hotels planned or under construction across the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

Kingdom’s investment in Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts dates back to 1998, when it acquired a one-third ownership interest from Mövenpick Holding. Over time, Kingdom has invested in 10 Mövenpick properties worldwide.

Today the company is jointly owned by Kingdom Hotels International and Mövenpick Holding with 33% and 67% stakes respectively.

The Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris redefines luxury in the City of Light. The landmark property occupies a prominent site on Paris’s “Golden Triangle,” steps from the Champs-Elysées and within one kilometer of the Arc de Triomphe.

An eight-storey landmark building erected in 1928, the Hotel George V offers 244 spacious guestrooms including 59 suites and Paris’ most expensive hotel suite, known simply as the Penthouse. The property features an exquisite art collection, magnificent tapestries, and spectacular floral arrangements. Guests can enjoy fine dining at the two-Michelin starred Le Cinq restaurant as well as benefit from 1,200 square meters of meeting and banquet space, a luxurious spa, fitness area, and swimming pool.

Kingdom Hotels’ investment in the property dates to 1996, when it acquired the property from Forte Hotel Group. The hotel was closed in 1997 for an extensive two-year refurbishment under the direction of interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. The hotel re-opened in 1999 under the management of Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. Today, it serves as a flagship for the Four Seasons brand and has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best, if not the best, city hotels in the world. In 2014, the Four Seasons Hotel George V was awarded the ‘Best Hotel in Europe’ by US magazine Celebrated Living.
